Books for 1 Year Old

Your 1 year old will be actively interested in books–and likely will not be delicate. They are independent, and will probably want to turn the pages of books themselves. You should encourage this: encourage your child’s independent interest in books. Let them play with the books. Turn the pages. Treat the books as their own–even if it leaves them in less than perfect condition.

For that reason, you need Board Books. They can take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’.

At this point your child’s imagination is developing. So a good mix of imaginative stories, real life experiences, and simple phonics books are a nice choice.
